When we misplaced our snowboard wax kit -- a piece of equipment absolutely essential to performance -- upon arrival in Prince George, snowboarder Colby (son of Mandi Graham, executive assistant with the Games Operations Centre) stepped up and kindly lent us his kit. Not long after, Selen Alpay from Canadian Tire - Prince George offered to donate anything we needed for a replacement wax kit. Needless to say, we were blown away by the kindness shown by Colby and Selen.
Luckily, hockey mission staff Tanya Hope found our wax kit. So, now that our needs are met, today we had Selen hand over the items he donated us to Colby. Chef Trevor also made Colby and Selen honourary members of Team Yukon.
We want to say a big Team Yukon thanks to Colby and Selen for their generosity. We were in a tough spot as snowboarding depends on good wax and we will not soon forget their kind gestures.
If this isn't the spirit of the Games, we don't know what is!
